The HD Essentials series of classes focus on the many different aspects of working with HD video formats. From shooters to post production professionals, these classes will help anyone find their way through the maze of HD production. The series is broken down into eight parts – Camera Fundamentals, Understanding HD Formats and Compression, Audio for Location Recording, The Hows and Whys of Lighting, Workflows & Media Management, Introduction to Digital Cinema, The Secrets of Optics, and Choosing the Right Camera. These classes build on each other, but can also be taken individually.
A technician knows tools and how they function. An artist understands what he or she would like to achieve and why. A craftsman comprehends both.
The first part of the workshop begins with the basic properties of light and then moves into the physical fixtures and light sources within them. Part two expands upon styles and motivations of lighting practice, moving into practical examples and participatory workshops.
