The HD Essentials series of classes focus on the many different aspects of working with HD video formats. From shooters to post production professionals, these classes will help anyone find their way through the maze of HD production. The series is broken down into eight parts – Camera Fundamentals, Understanding HD Formats and Compression, Audio for Location Recording, The Hows and Whys of Lighting, Workflows & Media Management, Introduction to Digital Cinema, The Secrets of Optics, and Choosing the Right Camera. These classes build on each other, but can also be taken individually.
This three-hour class is designed for camera shooters to learn the basics of on-location audio recording. Participants will gain practical on-set techniques as well as a basic knowledge of the gear required for recording professional audio. Learn to incorporate those techniques to assemble and achieve a professional audio mix for your next project.
In section one, a local guest sound recordist will present audio options for cameras ranging from DSLR‘s to Compact HD and Digital Cinema cameras. Equipment solutions for single and double system audio will be presented. In this session, learn the principles of location recording and how to apply them to real world situations. Equipment demos will be given including wired and wireless microphones. Audio mixing on-location will be covered as well.
For section two, we will present audio in post and discuss location audio. You will learn the process of collecting tracks and preparing your audio for a mix session. Find out what steps are needed to make the mix process as efficient and trouble-free as possible. We will also speak of the importance of sound design in pre-production.
