Lighting for Visual FX with Bruce Logan, ASC Online

Overview

In this master lighting class for visual effects, you will learn from Director of Photography and Visual Effects Supervisor Bruce Logan, whose credits include Star Wars2001: A Space Odyssey, Airplane, The Incredible Shrinking WomanTronBatman Forever, and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas.

FX shots are primarily the combination two or more different elements created at different times and locations that must be composited into one image. The key to successful composites is that the lighting of all the elements, whether they are live action or CGI, puts them into the “same world.”

In this class you will learn lighting tools, and then watch as they are put to use in a practical session. The class is designed for beginning cinematographers as an overview of matting, as well as for experienced DPs wishing to move into more complex VFX/live-action shoots.

This online workshops consists of over 4 hours of instructional content, which you can watch as much as you want for three months.
