Overview What is the “Cooke Look” compared to that of Zeiss? How does a prime lens compare to a zoom? What is Bokeh? Part of choosing a camera is choosing the appropriate glass to put in front of it. This class will teach the many properties of lenses, some of which can be garnered from reading technical specifications, and others requiring years of experience and access to the equipment. Now the secret alchemy of optics will be revealed as we work through the various optical characteristics that help define a lens and its uses. This online workshops consists of over 3 hours of instructional content, which you can watch as much as you want for three months.

Industry veteran Mitch Gross is currently the Director of Communications at Convergent Design. He is a respected voice on industry blogs & discussion boards and has been working in the New York film industry for more than fifteen years. Formerly Applications Specialist at AbelCine, he was also the Director of Photography on more than two dozen features, plus hundreds of commercials, music videos, industrials, documentaries and other productions. His work has been screened and has won awards at festivals including Sundance, Berlin, Cannes, Edinburgh and New York.
