For many people, Log is an entirely new concept, and to get the very best from Log recording you need to approach the way you expose differently. In this intensive, one-day workshop, participants will learn about Log and how to get the most from it by using simple exposure methods and post-production techniques.

Designed to provide a basic working knowledge of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, this workshop will cover concepts such as compression, codecs, and lens science, as well as post techniques for Raw footage. This Compositing Workshop will demonstrate how to create your own multi layered video image utilizing a green screen backdrop. To illustrate techniques in discussion we will use a basic interview camera and lighting set-up. Then to process our “comps” we will use “Chroma Key” based hardware and software. The goal is to give you the know-how to create your own compelling composite images.

Designed for working professionals, as well as those who are looking to enter the field, the course gives detailed instruction on camera set up, operation and workflows. By the end of the two-days, attendees will have gained comprehensive knowledge of the F5 / F55 and the confidence to operate the camera in a variety of production scenarios.

This in-depth, hands-on workshop teaches participants the skills need to operate the Sony FS7 camera. Designed for working professionals, as well as those who are looking to enter the field, the course gives detailed instruction on camera set up, operation and workflows. By the end of the two-days, attendees will have gained comprehensive knowledge of the FS7 and the confidence to operate the camera in a variety of production scenarios.

Through a combination of discussions, demonstrations and hands-on exercises, this full-day workshop teaches participants about lens mechanics and their basic maintenance.

The first part of the workshop focuses on a basic overview of the technology used to evaluate and repair lenses. Then lenses will be taken to the collimator for a demonstration of adjustments that can be made in the field. For the last part of the workshop, the class will go into the projection room for a discussion of differences between lenses and how to recognize mechanical and optical issues.

An intensive, two-day course, this hand-on class is designed to train a technically oriented filmmaker, digital imaging technician, or camera assistant to the level of operating a Phantom 2K Flex, Flex4K or Phantom Miro in the field as a Phantom Technician. Upon course completion, attendees will be added to AbelCine’s online Phantom Technician List.

REDucation is a 3-day workshop focused on hands-on learning with RED Digital Cinema camera packages (EPIC and DRAGON). Attendees will learn all about camera operation, the science of RED cameras, REDCINE-X software, and workflows. Each day participants will work in small groups to learn, shoot and review 4K footage on the big screen.

The Sony FS5 Intensive is a one-day workshop that teaches the operation of this camera, including how to acquire images in all of its recording formats. Particular attention will be paid to production and post-production workflows using Log. Attributes of picture profiles will be discussed, as will the ability to capture raw images, which is coming in a future firmware update. Lens options, signal output, and internal and external recording will also be covered.
